this morning…
in my 4th year class…
we had a lesson on…
psalm 37..!
“the destiny of the wicked and the good”..!
as usual…
the class started with…
the prayer of saint francis..!
then…
i began the lesson by…
drawing a line at the middle of the board..!
right after that…
i marked one side…
“good”…
and the other…
“evil”..!
then i instructed my students to…
write in any or in both…
of the column…
a word..,
an idea..,
a name..,
or…
an object..,
that may be equated to…
the two words..!
“good”…
and…
“evil”…
the result of the…
exercise was…
impressive..!
the collage of words on the board…
after everbody have written…
their contribution were…
at one point…
funny..!
but mostly…
they were…
well thought of ..!
a discussion ensued..!
and that was the…
fun part..!
how i love listening…
to my students…
as they give their opinion on things..!
it makes me very proud…
that they could actually reason out..!
anyway..,

same sex relationship being…
“evil”..!
i had to explain that…
“yes” it might be..!
but…
if there was …
“love”…
in the relationship…
and does not feed on…
“lust”…
alone..,
then…
maybe it’s not that bad..!
i dont know if he…
whole heartedly accepted…
that agruement of mine…
but he…
kept quiet after i said my piece..!
whether that was to indicate that…
he agrees…
or…
for me to just end up the discussion on…
gay relationship…
i don’t really know..!
but..,
i sure did…
enjoyed that part of the…
interaction process..!
meanwhile…
in 4 abad santos…

“cheating”…
during exams..!
he created quite a stir there..!
with most of the class…
violently reacting..!
he was…
interrupted many times with…
protestations..,
and..,
ridicule..!
i had to…
say that i agree with him…
that “cheating” during exams is…
“evil”…
so that his classmates would…
give him their ears..!
the class listened…
patiently…
but…
showed…
manifestations of…
disagreement…
just the same..!
unfortunately…
i was unable to meet…

had a meeting..!

but well..,
i know that…
a similar scenario would…

anyway..,
there was a moment…
during the discussion of the lesson…
when i felt that…
all the words…
listed on the…
“evil” part…
were all…
directly hitting me..!
it made me feel…
a bit…
uncomfortable…
seeing…
the words…
“jelouse”…
“gluttony”…
“anger”…
“lies”…
“pride”…
“money”…
and…
“sex”…
all written in one column..!
i big bold letters..!
i am…
so guilty of those..!
i have…
and…
i indulge…
on those..!
so…
i am…
evil..!
too bad..!
but…
i am…
human..!
god expects less perfection from us..!
what matters is…
i could find a way to…
redeem myself..!
and…
work for my…
salvation..!
that would save me from…
god’s punishment..!
god might not smite me afterall..!

the lesson taught me something too..!
so..,
tonight..,
i’ll ask god to forgive me…
for…
a sin that i did last tuesday..!
